One of the channels I like to watch occasionally is the Brazilian channel Record TV (801) mainly because it's one of the only free to air channels in a European language.
My favourite show is the frequently bizarre Show Do Tom a comedy show that would be hard to follow even if it wasn't in Portuguese but this week while most people were watching Eastenders I was watching this Brazilian soap about rebellious teenagers at a private school.
It's a remake of a Mexican show (they seem to be the masters of this kind of thing) and in the style of Sunset Beach or The Young and the Restless and as such it's not hard to follow.
But the real reason to watch this is it's sunny and everyone is gorgeous, the complete opposite of Eastenders in fact.
To my mind if you're going to watch a soap, which let's face it are all rubbish, you might as well watch one with attractive people in it.
It's on weekdays at 8.00pm on Record TV (801).

The Tudors
It was the penultimate episode of the Tudors this week and Henry VIII has turned into an old alcoholic Irish tramp.
Whilst all round him (especially David O' Hara as the Earl of Surrey) are still putting in great performances Jonathan Rhys-Meyers seems to think he is now in a comedy and is portraying the King with a croaky Irish accent which is somewhat jarring but at least there is only one more programme to go and hopefully it will go out with a bang.
Sons of Anarchy/ Justified
The best double bill on TV is on 5 USA from 10.00pm on a Wednesday with the second series of outlaw biker drama Sons of Anarchy and the Elmore Leonard-inspired Justified.
Sons of Anarchy has some of the best small-screen acting on TV especially from Golden Globe winning Katey Sagal (who looks almost identical to a woman who goes to the same supermarket as me, how I'd like a picture with her, and more) but also from the rest of the cast, and some great lines, something along the lines of "if only I was rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy life".
Anyway this week things were hotting up in the battle between the Sons and the white-supremacists and it's looking like it's leading up to a violent climax (there are also some IRA guns smugglers involved with the worst Irish accents you've ever heard, think the producers should have got Rhys-Meyers to give them some coaching.)
Justified is based on an Elmore Leonard short story and the flavour of his work is retained, the main character is Marshall Rayland Givens played by the Sheriff from Deadwood and the main villain is played by Shane from The Shield, both give great performances and the Southern accents and dialogue make a welcome change, even if the protagonist is the usual maverick.
Quantum of Solace
So after all the bad reviews I finally got to see Quantum of Solace and it was nowhere near as bad as expected.
That said it wasn't that great either, like they made another Bourne sequel and it was a bit substandard compared to the others, still better than Pierce Brosnan in an invisible car any day.
